Kanopy contains thousands of award-winning documentaries and theatrical releases. Producers include the Criterion Collection, The Great Courses, New Day Films, California Newsreel, Kino Lorber, PBS, First Run Features, Media Education Foundation, Documentary Educational Resources.
Kanopy is now mediated access, however it remains searchable from the library's Research Databases webpage. That means faculty must request films from Kanopy 30 days in advance, using the form on our website or the form within Kanopy, copied below. The library and Distance Education, in a partnership, purchase 1-year licenses to individual titles from Kanopy's collection in support of the college's curriculum for hybrid and online classes, not a face-to-face classes. For face-to-face classes the library has a large collection of physical DVD's. Any film purchased via Kanopy is available to all NWACC users.
Swank Digital Campus contains primarily feature films and is the largest library of streaming films available. However, the library does not subscribe to Swank. The library and Distance Education, in a partnership, can purchase a 1 semester or 1-year license to individual titles in support of the college's curriculum for hybrid and online classes, not face-to-face classes. For face-to-face classes the library has a large collection of physical DVD's. Faculty may request the library and distance education purchase the online streaming rights with this online form 30 days in advance of the date needed. Any film purchased is available to all NWACC users.
