Active & Collaborative Learning:
Incorporate activities such as discussions and problem-based learning to foster engagement among students.
Clear Expectations:
Clearly state expectations for participation and assignments to enhance student clarity and success.
Simple, accessible technology:
Use interactive tools in Canvas and keep technology simple and accessible for all students to enhance engagement.
Regular, Thoughtful Feedback:
Provide consistent and constructive feedback on student progress. Ask reflective questions to encourage self-assessment and extend students’ thinking on the subject.
Personalized Assignments:
When possible, give students options in how they demonstrate learning. Offering at least two assignment choices for specific outcomes allows students to explore topics of personal interest and increases engagement.
Support & Accessibility:
Show students that you want them to succeed by providing flexible office hours and online forums for support. Even if students don’t take advantage of these options, knowing they are available fosters a sense of connection and support.
Consistent Communication:
Communicate frequently and clearly, providing updates on course content, reinforcing expectations, correcting misconceptions, and sharing schedule changes. Regular, predictable communication helps keep students on track.
