Chicago Style Quick Guide: Author-Date

In Text Citations

References are given within the text when using the Author-Date format. It is very similar to APA style in-text citations.

Place the reference inside of parenthesis at the end of the sentence.

The period or other punctuation mark comes after you close the parenthesis.

The basic format:

(Author Year, page number).


There is no difference in formatting the bibliography when using the Author-Date format.
