You, the Borrower, are responsible for all items checked out on your NWACC Library account. If you check out items for other people, you will be charged the fines, and replacement costs, if the items are not returned.
Library fines exist only to encourage timely return of library materials and are only applied to equipment. Although our fines are modest they can add up if you have several items overdue or not returned. You will be held accountable for materials that are not returned and will be billed on your college account accordingly.
You must be enrolled in the current semester, or a current NWACC faculty or staff member, in order to have borrowing privileges at NWACC Library.
You must also present an NWACC ID card, or alternate form of legal photo id, at the time of check out to borrow an item from the library.
Loan periods vary by item type and are listed below. For more information on borrowing library equipment, please visit the multimedia guide.
Type of Material | Limit | Loan Period | Renewals |
---|---|---|---|
Books | 15 | 21 days | 2 |
Media (DVD, VHS) | 5 | 21 days | 2 |
Electronic Accessories | 2 | 21 days | 1 if more of the same item type are available |
Laptops | 1 | 21 days | 1 if more of the same item type are available |
If you are an Adult Education Center student you must have an NWACC ID card and a signed Adult Education Library Card Application form (an Adult Education faculty or staff member must sign the form verifying you are a current Adult Education Student) on file with the library each semester. If you do not have an NWACC ID you will need to provide another form of photo ID to borrow materials. Adult Education students may only check out books and media for 2 weeks, no equipment, and no more than 10 items at once. No renewals.
Unfortunately, library materials sometimes are lost or damaged. The person who checked out the items will be billed the replacement cost for each lost or damaged book, video, or piece of equipment.
Lost interlibrary loan or ArkLink items are assessed a replacement fee determined by the library that owns the item. You will be responsible for all charges for a lost item owned by another library. You are also responsible for costs associated with the damage of an interlibrary loan or Arklink item. You will be responsible for paying the total amount billed by the lending library, plus any accumulated overdue fines.
If you have an unpaid fine or library bill, your library checkout privileges will be suspended until the bill is paid.
In addition, you will not be able to receive a transcript or enroll in future semesters until this bill is paid in full or there is a payment plan in place.
